Before You Begin...
Tatouage Transfer Designs are so easy that you will quickly become an expert at applying it to walls and other surfaces. To help you easily create your Tatouage murals and make your results even more beautiful, 'Tatouage Designs' has put together a list of tips and hints that we hope that you will find most useful.

Please scroll down the page and locate the design that you are working with and to find the tips that best apply to that design. And, don't forget the most important thing - Happy Tatouaging!

Tatouage Transfer Designs,Stone Faux Medallions, Tatouage Designs

Faux Stone, Urn, Picket Fence
These designs are bigger in size and will take a little longer to apply. With proper placement you can make the larger designs look more dimensional by placing other products such as flowers, ivy, etc., over them. Always place these larger pieces first and begin rubbing the product into the surface from the middle of the design, and work your way out to the edges. Make sure to hold down the sheet as you are rubbing, so you don't crack the design if it moves.

Expectations?
You can expect to create one of a kind murals based on your very own creative interpretation of the Artist's designs, with no two wall murals ever looking the same. The Artist, founder of 'Tatouage Designs', does all the hard work and you get to layout the design according to your own individual taste. What a great combination!

Cutting Vines...
The vine sheets will have several areas marked where you may want to cut the sheet into smaller pieces. Using these markers will help you cut the design to make it fit the space you are decorating. We recommend that you cut up an entire sheet so you'll have several smaller pieces to work with to create that really customized look.

If you are applying columns, we recommend that you start from the bottom of the design and work your way up so you can control the height of your column. Once you have applied your larger pieces, you can then begin applying flowers, ivy, etc., to give the mural a more dimensional look. This technique also keeps you from wasting product as nothing is hidden behind the larger pieces.

Tatouage Transfer Designs Wrought, Iron Scroll, Tatouage Designs

Wrought Iron Scroll
Although a suggested layout is provided, your imagination is key to the layout of this design in order to customize your mural to your own space. You can use all the pieces, or just a few. You can purchase additional packages so the design covers more space, or you can just use one package to keep the design looking as shown.

Also, you can place vines, ivy or morning glories on your surface first, and then place the Scroll on top, resulting in the look that the vines, ivy, etc., are growing out from behind the Scroll. Overlaying with greenery will give the design the look of meandering in and out of the Wrought Iron Scroll.

Tatouage Transfer Designs, Iron Fence, Tatouge Designs

Iron Fence
When working with the fence make sure to work from the center point of your wall, and move outward so your design is evenly centered. Make sure that the space between the fencing is even. The easiest way to accomplish this is to use the iron connectors provided with this package, to judge the spacing. (If you are not going to use the connectors in your design, but are just using them for measurement purposes, make sure the backing is stapled to the connector pieces so they don't accidently stick to the surface you are working with.) For additional tips on placing the fence, see the section above on Wrought Iron Scroll.

Under the Sea
Apply some of the Seagrass to your surface, and then start adding Fish and Seashells. When you are half-way done with the mural, add more Seagrass over some of the Fish and Seashells. This will give the look that some of the Fish and Shells are between the Seagrass, and will give your mural a realistic look. You can apply the Fish in schools, or have them swimming freely - the choice is yours!

Tatouage Transfer Designs, Purple Morning Glories, Tatouge Designs

Vine/Ivy/Morning Glory/Rose Vine
These designs are the most universal and can be mixed and matched with just about any design in the Tatouage Collection. All of the designs, with the exception of the ivy, have indications where you can cut the design to make it work for your space. If you have the ivy you are in luck because it is already cut for you! If you would like the look of a border, simply place the designs end to end along your wall. If you are decorating your space as a mural, or if you are accenting a picture or a doorway, cut up the vine/ivy/morning glory/rose vine sheets into smaller pieces and leave one sheet intact.

Place the cut up pieces sporadically on your surface to make it look as if the plant is growing out from behind the picture, or from out of the molding of a doorway or window. You do not need to have one consecutive vine. Be creative and have the design look as if it is going behind your other Tatouage pieces, or a picture, window, or doorway. Use the last sheet of Tatouage to fill in places that need a little something extra, or to repair mistakes. Remember, vines in nature do not grow symmetrically - they are free-flowing plants and should retain this look in your murals.

Beginning at the top of the sheet, rub carefully over the vine applying even pressure. Be sure to hold the stick as flat as possible, so you get as much of the surface area of the stick, against the wall.

Flowers on the Vines
If you would like to add flowers to your vines, below are a few suggestions.

Adding Flowers...
When you have made good progress with your vines, begin to add in the blossoms. They really look best when placed over an area where the leaves come together. When placing them, remember to make sure you always work the stem of the flower into the vine as naturally as you can. To position them, use a small piece of clear tape to place them on the wall before you rub them down. It's sometimes best when you are doing this for the first time to position your flowers, and then step back to see how your overall design looks. Remember, in nature, flowers normally grow upward. The blue, lavender and jasmine flowers work best in a location without leaves.

Blue, Pink and Yellow Blossoms
Place these flowers near a leaf as if they are growing from the leaf. Don't apply to the end of the tendril, or in the middle of a blank stem, as this is not a logical place in which a blossom would grow.

Blue, Lavendar and Yellow Jasmine Flowers
Place these in the center of the stem where there are no leaves on the vine. These flowers come with their own leaves. You will find that good placement of theses designs will give your mural a more substantial look, with a very delicate looking flower.

Ivy
One small note regarding placement of the ivy. Flowers do not grow on ivy, so it is best not to place flowers on top of ivy as though the flower is growing from it. Rather, place flowers as directed above onto a vine that might overlap the ivy in a garden scenario, for example.
